Journey to the heart of Bavaria for four nights in the unofficial "second-capital" of Germany. Stay in the historic city center, experience traditional Bavarian hospitality at the Hofbräuhaus, take a day trip to romantic Salzburg and the house where Mozart was born, shop for traditional crafts in Saxon villages, and marvel at old master canvases and classical sculptures at Munich's world class museums.

Itinerary
June 13 - Grünhainichen, Arrive Munich
Departing Leipzig, we travel to the countryside village of Grünhainichen where we tour the original workshop of Wendt and Kühn, famous for their Grünhainichen angels with their characteristic green wings and their eleven white dots. We then continue to our hotel located in the heart of old Munich and enjoy a festive, Bavarian dinner at the famous Hofbräuhaus with great music and world-famous beer. (B,D)
June 14 - Munich Day Tour
Today we explore the amazing city of Munich on foot, beginning at the 650 year old St. Peter's Church with its beautiful altar. We then listen to the sonorous carillon of the Rathaus-Glockenspiel in the main town square before a visit to the colorful Viktualienmarkt to shop for local wares and food. After lunch, admire the world-class collections at Munich's museums, including the matchless canvases at the Alte Pinakothek and the Greco-Roman statues at the Munich Glyptothek. (B)
June 15 - Salzburg Day Trip
Venturing out of Germany, we spend a day in the romantic Austrian city of Salzburg, famous as the birthplace of Mozart and the backdrop for the Sound of Music. Arriving in town, we stroll through the Mirabell Gardens before entering into the home of Mozart's birth as we learn about this child prodigy. After a visit to the Grünmarkt and beautiful Baroque cathedral, enjoy an afternoon free in the picturesque city center or take an optional visit to the stunning castle perched dominantly over the city. Return to Munich for dinner and overnight. (B)
June 16 - Munich Free Day, Optional: Neuschwanstein Castle
Enjoy a free day to explore cosmopolitan Munich or take an optional excursion to the stunningly beautiful Neuschwanstein Castle on your final day in Europe. In the evening, we gather together for a final, celebratory dinner. (B,D)
June 17 - Depart
Depart Munich for the USA.

A $600 deposit is required by January 5, 2018 to hold your place on the Munich extension. After submitting the above form, please send a check, made out to Sofia Travel, to 3907 Cherrywood Rd. Austin, TX 78722.
